The Social Planet
This week there are three planets changing direction from direct to retrograde, first one was Saturn.
Saturn is one of the social planets (Jupiter being the second). This planet gives things structure and shape. It’s a planet that governs our self-discipline and how we organise ourselves. It rules over external authorities and boundaries that are self imposed or are imposed onto us. We could say that Saturn has a stern hand and in the past months we have witnessed how Saturn works in our society; restrictions, prohibition and social distancing (Saturn in Aquarius). Saturn is also known as Kronos: keeper of time. His path is always slow, never too quick, but steady, step by step. Frequently, as a result, we walk three steps forward and one back because we are afraid of changes ahead (our fears are ruled by Saturn).
At the end of our hardworking efforts, Saturn may well reward us; as long as we fulfil Saturn’s unrelenting demands: no shortcuts, only dedicated and steadfast work. The old saying: “grit your teeth” could not be further from Saturn’s truth.
On the collective level, Saturn illustrates how an individual succumbs to any social demand and norm. Saturn governs the consensus stage of our evolution and how we conform to the existing reality. Without a second thought we blindly follow the rules. Furthermore, there’s no disbelief whether the rules are justifiable or not. One simply follows without any critical thinking. Often in evolutionary astrology Saturn is associated with a herd stage of one’s evolution.
When Saturn turns Retrograde
When Saturn turns retrograde, Saturn’s characteristics turn inward. Retrogradation offers us a unique opportunity to overview our long-term plans, goals, what needs brushing up and what is in tune with our expectations and endeavours. Many times we change our point of view and establish new aspiring goals. During the retrograde period we long for a different kind of structure and system. Often we discover that something is amiss and needs adjusting.
People who have a strong Saturn in their chart, Saturn’s turn can be a time of increased sorrow, depression or even weakened health. On the other hand, individuals with retrograde Saturn in their charts frequently won’t pursue social norms and are the instigators of new structures and rules in their community.
Collectively, the increasing questions are surfacing whether measures imposed are just or not, many things may come true or not. In this introspective time, where Venus and Jupiter join as well, often things may look the other way around. Instead, let us follow the inner calling, to re-think, re-question. Don’t act only because we have to. Let’s build upon our existing frames, only then our conscientiousness will grow and outgrow the outdated norms and structures.

Ta teden trije planeti (Saturn, Venera, Jupiter) spreminjajo svojo smer gibanja iz direktnega v retrogradno gibanje.
Prvi, ki je spreminil svojo smer, je Saturn.
Saturn daje stvarem svojo strukturo, obliko. Je planet, ki kaže, kako smo samodisciplinirani, organizirani. Vlada avtoritetam, mejam, ki si jih sami postavimo, ali mejam, ki so nam vsiljene od zunaj. Lahko bi rekli, da predstavlja »trdo roko«, in te mesece smo priča, kako to v našem vsakdanjiku tudi izgleda. Saturn je tudi kronos, bog časa, in njegova pot je počasna, korak za korakom. Neredko se zgodi, da hodimo tri korake naprej, in nato zaradi svojega strahu (Saturn vlada našim strahovom) naredimo korak ali dva nazaj.
S prizadevnim delom nas lahko Saturn na koncu tudi nagradi, če izpolnimo Saturnovim zahtevam: brez bližnjic, le trdo in konstantno delo.
Na kolektivni ravni Saturn vlada, kako klonimo družbenim zahtevam, normam. Saturn vlada t.i. konformni zavesti, saj posameznik sledi splošno veljavnim zakonom brez da bi dvomil v njihovo upravičenost, resničnost. Lahko bi rekli, da slepo sledimo zunanjim avtoritetam brez lastne kritične, individualne presoje.
V času Saturnove retrogradnosti, se Saturnove kvalitete obrnejo »navznoter«. Retrogradnost nam daje priložnost, da pregledamo naše dolgoročne cilje, plane, ali so še vedno v skladu z našimi pričakovanji, prizadevanji. Pogosto spremenimo svoje poglede in na novo začrtamo že obstoječe cilje. V retrogradnem času strmimo po drugačni strukturi in ustroju. Pogosto ugotovimo, da nam še nekaj manjka. Za tiste, ki imajo v svoji karti poudarjen vpliv Saturna (vladar rojstne karte ali močen aspekt v karti), je lahko čas Saturnovega obrata intenziven v smislu povečane žalosti, depresije, lahko pa tudi slabšega zdravja.
Ljudje, ki imajo v karti retrogradni Saturn, pogosto ne bodo sledili družbenim normam, in so prav oni začetniki nekih novih pravil v skupnosti.
Na kolektivni ravni se bomo spraševali o smiselnosti/nesmiselnosti ukrepov, marsikaj se bo izkazalo za prav/narobe. V tem introspektivnem obdobju, ko se pridružita še Venera in Jupiter, bo marsikaj obrnjeno na glavo. Sledimo raje svojemu notranjnem klicu, razmišljajmo, sprašujmo. Ne delujemo samo zato, ker tako moramo. Nadgradimo obstoječe okvirje, le tako se bo naša zavest in zavest sveta počasi tudi dologoročno spremenila.
